Many departments require applicants to complete EMT training, fire academy, certifications, testing, or other education before they can even apply. Volunteer and smaller departments may not have the funding to cover those expenses. For someone trying to enter a career serving others, the combined cost of tuition, books, uniforms, testing fees, and essential equipment can place the opportunity out of reach.
Iron Shift Coffee was created with a mission to help change that. For every bag of Iron Shift Coffee sold, $1 is set aside to support future education and training opportunities for people pursuing careers in fire service, emergency medical services, law enforcement, nursing, and other healthcare professions.
As Iron Shift grows, our goal is to develop a responsible program that can help qualified candidates pursuing careers in fire service, emergency medical services, law enforcement, and nursing. The program will initially focus on Southwest Florida, with the goal of expanding into additional communities as the fund grows. That support may help address costs such as:
- EMT or paramedic education
- Fire academy tuition
- Nursing school tuition
- Required certifications and examinations
- Books and training materials
- Uniforms and essential equipment
The program’s structure, eligibility requirements, application process, and available funding will be established before assistance is awarded. We will communicate those details clearly as the initiative develops.
